An American company that grew up in Europe

Viewde started in Columbus, Ohio in 2017, built by a nursing home operator and a software engineer for eleven facilities they already knew. The first German customer, in 2019, was meant to be a one-off. Europe is now 94% of the business and the company has been run from Cork since 2021.

How the company works

There are two companies. Viewde, Inc. is the Delaware parent and owns the software. Viewde EMEA Limited in Cork employs almost everyone, signs every European contract and is the company that actually holds your data. The split exists for tax and investor reasons, which we would rather say than dress up, but it has one consequence worth knowing: your agreement is with an Irish company, under Irish and EU law.

Most of our engineering goes on regulation

About a third of it, on documentation models that differ country by country. Dull work, and the reason providers move to us from something cheaper.

We publish the numbers monthly

Availability, response times, projects delivered on time. August was our worst month for availability in two years and it is on the front page, because taking it down would be worse.

There is plenty we do not do

Home care routing is weak. We do not build billing or occupancy systems. Three providers were told last year to buy something else, and two came back for Meds anyway.

Fifty-two people, 238 services

We could hire faster. What providers say they value is that whoever answers already knows what a Pflegegrad is, and that is harder to guarantee with every twenty people you add.

How we got here

2017

Started in Columbus, Ohio, doing medication documentation for eleven skilled nursing facilities the founders already worked with.

US only

2019

A Cologne systems house saw the product at Altenpflege and asked whether they could sell it. The first German house went live that November.

First German service

2021

Cork opened and fairly quickly became the real headquarters. Series A raised. Strukturmodell support shipped about a year later than we had promised.

Moved to Cork

2023

Netherlands, and a first project there that went badly enough to produce the works council and language work we now take for granted.

Four partners

2026

238 services. A small London office for UK customers. The US side is 6% of revenue and has stopped growing, which is fine.

We will introduce you to a provider of similar size in your own country and language, and leave you to ask them anything without us on the call.

“The MD quality review asked for eleven months of Betreuungsdokumentation on the second morning. We produced it before lunch. On paper that request used to cost us a week of a manager's life.”

“Our works council reviewed the time recording for three months before approving it. Viewde came to two of those meetings and answered questions directly instead of sending us a data sheet. That decided the tender.”

“We run five languages on the floor. Being able to give each carer the interface in their own language, while the record itself stays in Dutch, removed most of our documentation errors in a quarter.”
